Sweet, sweet Google!

Google Maps - Altered routeWell, thank goodness for Google right? Some like them, some don’t…they’ve been compared to Microsoft at times from things I’ve read here and there, but compared to MapQuest for mapping technology, and there’s no comparison. Of course, I’m talking about the wonderful world of Google Maps. Why? Well, I was just messing around on Google Maps and stumbled upon a wonderful, long awaited, *NEW* feature…the ability to alter my route on the fly adding stops, or just taking alternate routes and discovering information about them.

It’s so great, I’ve already confirmed I’m taking the shortest, fastest, most direct route to and from the office each day. I’ve used it to plot out some run/walk routes so I know the distances on them now so I don’t have to spend 100’s of my hard earned dollars on a Garmin Forerunner with GPS (though I still want one). I’ve calculated the distance too and from my girlfriends place, spaces between office buildings on different routes, and the possibilities are endless.

I read a while back, actually I think it was a few years back, about someone looking for an apartment and he was wondering how to plot them all. They created a custom application using the Google Maps API and wrote the code themselves to be able to do it. It was good, but hard to find online (as I still can’t in my list of links). Now it will be easy for everyone and anyone to plot a route for apartment hunting, house shopping, grocery shopping, or just plain old whatever is involved that you need to figure something out for…provided it involves a map of course. Google still hasn’t invented the ability to time-travel or tele-port…yet.

The Secret – Just do it!

Well it’s definitely been a long time since I’ve written anything on here. It seems as though I’ve been getting addicted to Facebook and writing messages to friends that I haven’t seen in a long time or haven’t connected with. It’s really easy to find those people that once were an active part of my life.

I want to let them all know how much I appreciate each and every one of them. Each person that you can find in my friends list is obviously important to me, and I thank each one of them for whatever it is that they’ve given me as their individual unique gift. Thanks for checking this out, even when I haven’t been writing.

If this seems a little cheezie, it should be. I’m busy watching “The Secret” in the background as background noise. I had the night and house to myself, and it’s been a long time since I’ve seen it, so I decided to slap it into the DVD player while I had some time to kill. I’m picking up different things about it this time around. It’s only the second time that I’ve seen it, and I’m sure I’ll get something new out of it this time. A lot of the things I learned the first time have definitely paid off.

For example, my business is beginning to take off. I’ve been thinking about it being very successful and am not sure how I’m going to advertise it, or even get business. Lately people have been approaching me about doing things for them. Even people that I haven’t seen or heard from in months, but I planted the seed with them a few months back with the opportunities that were presented to me. I’m still putting it out there that this year will see SPRY Design Group produce $100,000 in revenue. It’s a large goal to conquer, but I’m certain that we can accomplish it.

So, if you know anyone that needs some graphic design work done (advertising, logo, brand management, brochures, business cards, etc) or a website, please keep SPRY Design Group in mind. I believe that it can be done, and that it will be done.

Remember to take care of yourself each day, especially first. Your best friend should be yourself. Ensure that you care for that individual. A friend told me today an affirmation that he uses everyday. I believe it goes something like “I love and accept myself wholly. My past is perfect creating my amazing future.” I believe that the statement is very powerful, and once I put it into place for myself, it will be even more amazing then my life already is.

Back to “The Secret” the best thing I can say that I’ve pulled out of it is to focus on what I want. By focusing on what it is that I want, then the universe will simply manifest it. The energy flows where the intention goes. By focusing on negative things, those will often crop up. Another saying I’ve heard and use is what I resist will persist. Therefore I consciously choose to re-frame things in positive light. By doing so, I feel that the positive angle on the thought will help to promote the life, good, truth and honesty in myself, others and ultimately the world which will come back to me.

Life should be abundant. There is no shortage. There is plenty of good to go around for everyone. The world is an abundant place and if it is believed in, then the world can receive it. Whether it’s a woman (hey, I’m a guy), a house, money, car, freedom or anything else — if I believe it, then it will happen. My current relationship proves this.

I have a journal that I write in occasionally. Whenever I do, I go back and read over some of the things that I’ve written previously. They’re all things about what I want, and when I write, I make that conscious choice. By making that conscious choice, re-reading the positive words puts me in the right state of mind to write. The best part that I’ve observed about my writings in my journal is that they come true. I believe that writing anything, anywhere will work. Whether it’s an online blog, a private journal, billboard or anything else…just write it down.

This past weekend I had an amazing experience. To summarize it, it essentially told me to just go for it; try it; take the leap of faith. Really, things in the world can be easy for me. Money flows freely and easily and often to me — I truly believe that.

I know that it seems like I’m rambling along here, and honestly I am. I’m actually more interested in The Secret that’s playing on the DVD player right now then actually what I’m writing. For that, I’m not sorry. I was going to think that I was, but I’m not. I’m writing this for me, and hope that you can gain some benefit out of this. I believe that anyone has enough power and skill within them to do whatever it is that they want to do…all that’s needed is to try. Currently, I’m writing a story — the story of my life. I’m writing it for me. It won’t be printed in a book, or a movie, it will be written for me so that I know what I’m asking for, and so that everyone can be amazed how this thing, this “law of attraction” actually works. I’m looking forward to showing you all how well it works. Remember when you think to focus and frame things in a positive mindset…at least to the best of your abilities. I’m NOT telling you what to do, I’m simply telling you what I’ve done and the things that have worked for me.

Thank you for reading this, especially if you made it this far. I hope that you’re inspired to do something. Take a walk and smell the roses. Take time for yourself. Take time for a loved one. Just do something, whatever it is that you want, and make sure that it makes you feel good. I feel great right now! Thanks again.

Laptop or is it Lap Top?

I got into a wonderful discussion the other day with an associate about his Apple PowerBook (a great machine of course). He nailed himself in the head with it. Something came up with the fact about the name of it being a laptop. Again, truly a “you had to be there” moment, but it went something like this…

“Man, this thing fits on my lap so nicely. Actually, on top of my lap. It’s like a lap top or something.”

“But why is it a laptop? Wouldn’t a top lap or top of lap make even more sense? I mean, really it’s on the top of your lap?!”

“No. It’s called a lap top (or maybe laptop — he said it fast). The guy that came up with it is just a pure genious. You really should give him credit where credit is due. I mean, without the laptop, then there’s just simply be a portable computer, and we all know that’s a PC, which is actually a personal computer, so then the world would really get messed up and come to a grinding halt and there’d be no Y2K virus, or Web 2.0 or any “get rich quick online” schemes, or anything like that. You’d have to use an abicus to do math, and then you’d be wearing one of those crazy toga things like you see in the movies like Animal House.

Speaking of Animal House and togas, did you know that the togas used were actually just bed sheets? You know, most togas at frat parties with half naked, hot, beer drinking, body shotting girls are just simply the bed sheets that they pulled off their beds?!”

“Man, you’re one crazy guy! Did you know that? I’m going to have to blog about this!”

And so I am. As a note to him, it didn’t quite go down that way, but I definitely heard it that way and expanded on it in my head. All in all though, it was a very productive meeting. Thanks so much for it. I look forward to spending your money once I get that proposal together for you, and get that revolutionary idea together for you. You want to make a measly $2 million at it…I shun that. Let’s think about a way to change that ‘m’ into a ‘b’ and then we’re really off and running!!

As a side note, good luck Lyndsay on your surgery…

What a tease…almost.

Well that was almost a tease! I was looking for some tickets to tonight’s Calgary Flames game and managed to find two of them side-by-side in section 215, row 2, seats 5 & 6. Of course, for some reason I had left my credit card in the car today so I ran out to get it and ran back in. By the time it was all said and done, my two minutes had expired and the tickets released back to the pool. What a pain!!

Well, it’s about this time that I opened two windows (one IE, the other FireFox) and put one on each monitor. I began manually hammering the ticketmaster.ca website to no avail. I stopped, took a breath and visualized myself at the game tonight…actually, on my way in to work this morning I had visualized it. So, a few deep breaths, seeing some ‘affordable’ tickets on the screen and I hit the submit button! It sat for a few extra seconds and voila!! There it was on my screen; two Calgary Flames tickets for Game #3 of the first-round playoffs against the Detroit Red Wings were mine. Again I took a few seconds to breath. I punched in my credit card and received the confirmation screen that they had been purchased.

So a little persistence, some positive thinking, amazing visualization skills and a few extra minutes of my time and the tickets were mine! Just goes to show that you really can have anything that you really want in life!

The world is not a sphere…

It’s true apparently. According to my younger brother, “it’s flat like a piece of paper.”

“You’re actually walking around on a big map, similar to the one that you carry in your pocket. You see, there are edges to the paper, just like there are edges on a map.”

“So how do you get to the other map?”

“It’s easy thanks to the vortexes! There’s these constant breezes blowing at the edges of the maps and they magically transfer you to the next map. Really, this whole thing of a core to the Earth is crap. There’s no big ball of liquid hot magma in the sphere…of course because the Earth is not a sphere, it can’t be there.”

“So where does it come from then?”

“Simple. Just think of it like a jelly filled doughnut! It’s all contained within the mountain or volcano and sits on top of the piece of paper. Nothing happens to it until people start messing around with it. You see, people, or should I say idiots, build their villages on the side of the volcano. When the village gets too big it gets heavy and it compresses down on the jelly filling. The filling comes squirting out the top killing everyone, unless they can run fast like Ben Johnson. Of course, don’t forget that it’s not jelly filling, it really is liquid hot magma! Honestly, only idiots build on the side of a volcano. It’s like natural selection, and you can’t help it if you’re an idiot.”

Really, this is almost exactly how the conversation went. It was very amusing and very serious, complete with hand gestures for the animations. I was thoroughly impressed. Oh yeah, did I mention that he’s won academic awards this school year? Oh, and he’s really 21!
